FRIGHT NIGHT Grows and Grows at the Warner Grand Theater in San Pedro

Despite Protests, Producers Say It’s A Ghoulish Success

LOS ANGELES, CA—Fans of monster movies and old-fashioned fun are still reeling from the recent 3-D double feature night at FRIGHT NIGHT, but producers say there’s even more great stuff in the pipeline. On top of two (kind of) scary movies and one great band, the show’s $13 admission also gives admission for a raffle, burlesque, vendors and wacky surprises. The show has been picketed by monsters belonging to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Monsters (A.S.P.C.M.) since before it opened, but the producers are happily continuing anyway.

“We’ve got such great shows lined up that we can’t wait to open the doors on September 11,” said Fright Night founder, producer, and host Noah Korda. “The audiences give us lots of screams and laughter, and that’s music to our ears.” Fright Night has already given people flying skeletons, hearses, ghostly manifestations, monsters in the aisles, Vincent Price, and a lot more. What’s cooking for September’s witches’ brew?

“Well, we don’t want to say too much,” Korda continued, “but it involves skulls and brains. And we’ll have Miss Bonnie Delight back again, with all her ‘hex appeal,’ so you can count on a great time.”

Co-producer Richard Becker added one cautionary note. “We’ve heard a rumor that some kind of walking corpse ‘horror host’ named Doctor Morbius is going to try and take over the show that night. We’re not quite sure what that’s all about yet, but we did find a website: www.myspace.com/doctormorbius. If it’s the same guy, that’s the jerk that owes me fifty dollars…!”

No matter what surprises come your way, you can be sure that FRIGHT NIGHT will give you thrills and laughter on September 11 at the Warner Grand Theater. Don’t miss it!

A historic site — and center of creepy controversy
Fright Night happens every month at one of L.A.’s great theatrical treasures, the historic Warner Grand Theater. Opened in 1931 and designed for film and vaudeville shows, the Warner Grand was billed as “The Castle of Your Dreams,” with a beautiful art deco design that is lovely from the outside and astounding on the inside. Built by the Pantages chain, the theater was in decline for some years until historians, preservationists, and the city of Los Angeles worked together to preserve it. You can learn more about the Warner Grand at http://www.warnergrandshows.com

An organization to protect monsters’ rights
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Monsters (A.S.P.C.M.) was founded in the 19th century as an offshoot of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Monsters (R.S.P.C.M.) and the Transylvanian Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Monsters (T.S.P.C.M.). The A.S.P.C.M. is dedicated to preventing the abuse of monsters of all kinds, from the smallest imp or goblin to the largest nuclear-powered mutant dinosaur or space-going nebula-amoeba. Learn more about the A.S.P.C.M. and its mission at www.aspcm.org and get involved.
